Job summary

AncoraTN seeks an Annual Giving & Grants Manager to advance fundraising through institutional funding and donor engagement. You will lead AncoraTN's grants program, coordinating prospect research, proposals, reporting, and compliance, while also cultivating a select donor portfolio.

Approximately 75% of the role focuses on grants and institutional funding, with the remaining 25% dedicated to individual giving.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, communications, English, public administration, business, marketing, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible nonprofit fundraising, grant writing, foundation relations, or development.
  • Demonstrated success researching, writing, and securing competitive grant proposals.
  • Experience managing grant reporting, compliance, and post-award stewardship.
  • Experience coordinating multiple grant deadlines and managing a grant calendar.
  • Strong understanding of private, corporate, community, and institutional grantmaking.
  • Excellent written, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience working with donor databases/CRMs and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional relationships with funders, donors, or other external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage AncoraTN's grants program.
  • Research and qualify prospective private, corporate, community, state, federal, and other institutional funding opportunities.
  • Develop, write, and submit grant proposals, letters of inquiry, applications, renewals, and supporting materials.
  • Maintain the annual grants calendar and ensure proposals, renewals, reports, and other funder requirements are completed on time.
  • Prepare grant reports and coordinate collection of program outcomes, financial information, and supporting documentation.
  • Collaborate with Finance on grant budgets, expenditures, financial reporting, and compliance requirements.
  • Support compliance and reporting requirements for government funding.
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with assigned institutional funders through regular communication, meetings, updates, and site visits.
  • Maintain records of proposals, awards, restrictions, reporting requirements, funding history, and funder communications.
  • Monitor existing grants for renewal opportunities and develop renewal strategies.
  • Maintain a qualified pipeline of prospective institutional funding opportunities.
  • Evaluate opportunities for mission alignment, capacity, funding potential, and reporting requirements.
  • Provide regular grant pipeline, funding forecast, and reporting updates to the Chief Development & Marketing Officer.
  • Work with program leadership to understand needs, outcomes, and funding opportunities.

Job description

AncoraTN (ATN), formerly End Slavery Tennessee, works tirelessly to nurture survivor healing and strategically combat human trafficking in Middle Tennessee. We seek to break cycles of exploitation and support survivors of human trafficking as they heal from their traumas offering long-term, comprehensive aftercare services. Through training communities and professionals, advocating for legal changes, and implementing prevention programming, AncoraTN works to stop human trafficking before it ever begins.

REPORTS TO: Chief Development and Marketing Officer
POSITION SUMMARY:

The Annual Giving & Grants Manager is responsible for advancing AncoraTN's philanthropic revenue through institutional funding and individual donor engagement. Serving as the primary staff lead for AncoraTN's grants program, this position manages the full grant lifecycle, including prospect research, proposal development, reporting, compliance coordination, funder stewardship, and renewal.

Approximately 75% of the position is focused on grants and institutional funding, with the remaining 25% dedicated to individual donor cultivation and annual giving support. The Manager will cultivate and steward a select portfolio of annual and mid-level donors with the goal of strengthening relationships, increasing donor retention, and identifying opportunities for increased giving.

Reporting to the Chief Development & Marketing Officer, the Annual Giving & Grants Manager works collaboratively with program, finance, marketing, and development staff to develop compelling funding requests, ensure accurate and timely reporting, strengthen relationships with institutional and individual funders, and support AncoraTN's broader fundraising strategy.

The ideal candidate is an exceptional writer and organized relationship-builder who can manage complex grant deadlines while also developing meaningful relationships with funders and individual donors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Grant & Institutional Funding (75%)
  • Lead and manage AncoraTN's institutional grants program.
  • Research and qualify prospective private, corporate, community, state, federal, and other institutional funding opportunities.
  • Develop, write, and submit compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, applications, renewals, and supporting materials.
  • Maintain the annual grants calendar and ensure proposals, renewals, reports, and other funder requirements are completed accurately and on time.
  • Prepare grant reports and coordinate collection of program outcomes, impact data, financial information, and supporting documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with Finance on grant budgets, expenditures, financial reporting, restricted funding, and compliance requirements.
  • Support compliance and reporting requirements associated with federal, state, and other government funding.
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with assigned institutional funders through regular communication, meetings, and updates, and site visits.
  • Maintain accurate records of proposals, awards, restrictions, reporting requirements, funding history, and funder communications.
  • Monitor existing grants for renewal opportunities and develop renewal strategies.
  • Maintain and continually develop a qualified pipeline of prospective institutional funding opportunities.
  • Evaluate prospective opportunities for mission alignment, organizational capacity, funding potential, and reporting requirements.
  • Provide regular grant pipeline, funding forecast, and reporting updates to the Chief Development & Marketing Officer.
  • Work collaboratively with program leadership to understand program needs, outcomes, impact, and emerging funding opportunities.
Individual Giving & Donor Cultivation (25%)
  • Manage a select portfolio of annual and mid-level donors identified for increased engagement and giving potential.
  • Build relationships with assigned donors through calls, meetings, personalized correspondence, stewardship, and other meaningful touchpoints.
  • Develop individualized cultivation, stewardship, renewal, and upgrade strategies for assigned donors.
  • Conduct appropriate donor solicitations and encourage increased or recurring giving when appropriate.
  • Identify donors with leadership or major-gift potential and coordinate next steps with the Chief Development & Marketing Officer.
  • Support AncoraTN's annual giving initiatives through personalized donor outreach, cultivation, and campaign follow-up.
  • Support strategies to grow recurring and monthly giving among assigned donors.
  • Maintain accurate donor interactions, interests, notes, next steps, and relationship information in the CRM.
  • Collaborate with Development and Marketing on broader donor retention and stewardship strategies.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position is a hybrid position with some in-office requirements for in-person meetings and events. Work is carried out primarily in an office setting with intermittent sitting, standing, walking, and some light physical activity. Most work is performed while sitting and using the computer, phone, and engaged in face-to-face conversation with staff and/or clients. Some car travel and use of personal vehicle is required. Telecommuting arrangements may be discontinued at any time at the discretion of the organization and/or supervisor.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, communications, English, public administration, business, marketing, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in nonprofit fundraising, grant writing, foundation relations, or development.
  • Demonstrated success researching, writing, and securing competitive grant proposals.
  • Experience managing grant reporting, compliance, and post-award stewardship.
  • Experience coordinating multiple grant deadlines and managing a grant calendar.
  • Strong understanding of private, corporate, community, and institutional grantmaking.

  • Experience cultivating relationships with foundations and institutional funders.
  • Experience managing a donor portfolio and conducting donor meetings or stewardship calls.
  • Experience with Neon CRM or similar donor management software.
  • Familiarity with fundraising best practices, donor moves management, and annual giving strategies.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Initial and subsequent random drug screening is required as per agency policy.
  2. A background check is required.
  3. Must be willing and able to embrace and exemplify our core values.
JOB TYPE:

Part time, not to exceed 29 hours per week. Some travel may be required.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

Hourly Rate: $30/hour

  • $150.00/ month for therapy reimbursement
  • Employer 403b match up to 1% of salary based on employee contributions and dependent on annual board vote. Eligible after 6 months of employment
