PENN Entertainment is seeking a dedicated team member at Zia Park Racetrack in New Mexico to provide live verbal race coverage, on-air commentary, and public announcements. This role involves coordinating with the Mutuel department, delivering accurate race details, and ensuring smooth simulcast presentations alongside the audio-visual team.

The position requires 21+ years of age, a high school diploma, fluency in English, and the ability to obtain NM Racing Commission licenses.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to obtain licenses/permits as required by NM regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Access, Word).

Responsibilities

  • Provide live verbal race records with details for public and simulcast audiences.
  • Provide morning line odds for races.
  • Make general announcements to the public.
  • Relay racing updates as directed by Mutuel department or stewards.
  • Explain infractions and disqualifications.

Responsibilities

Your daily responsibilities include:

  • Provides live verbal record of races indicating name of horse, rider, lengths behind and any other descriptors for benefit of general public and simulcast audience of Zia Park Racetrack Races
  • Providing morning line odds for races.
  • Provides general announcements to public
  • Conveys pertinent information such as scratches, changes and any other updates of racing information as directed by Mutuel department or stewards
  • Provides explanations of infractions occurring on racetrack and resultant disqualifications
  • Provides on-air pre and post-race commentary on horses and participants in races including interviews with race participants
  • Coordinate with audio-visual department in developing content for daily simulcast presentation
  • Assists in coordinating needs for general or racing related media or promotional events before, during or after races
  • May require work during non-racing hours

  • Follow all cleaning, sanitation and PPE position specific guidelines.
Requirements

To be successful in this position it will require the following skill set:

  • Must be 21 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Read, write legibly, understand and speak English
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft applications (Excel, Access, Word)
  • Must be licensed with New Mexico Racing Commission
  • Excellent customer service/communication skills
  • Must meet professional appearance standards as prescribed by company policy
  • Must be able to respond to visual and oral cues
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job will have no supervisory responsibilities.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in in English may also be required.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Employee must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.
