Qualifications

  • Doctorate in animal welfare or related field.
  • Three years of related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct projects and programs aimed at research animal welfare and research excellence, contributing to an overall strategic research infrastructure.
  • Develop and deliver training content on animal welfare and related research concepts including, but not limited to, the 3Rs, advanced human-relevant technologies, and novel alternative methodologies (NAMs).
  • Proactively network across members and the broader research community to build awareness of research animal welfare; assist members with establishing standard operating procedures and other activities that enhance research animal welfare.
  • Consult with researchers on the 3Rs, human-relevant model systems, and novel alternative methodologies, providing support for investigator grants.
  • Support member accreditation with AAALAC, International.
  • Conduct related research, seeking state, federal, and other funding opportunities to advance research animal welfare.
  • Promote the work by the Texas A&M University System members in the area of animal research and NAMs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
