As Manager of Research Compliance, you'll play a key role in supporting the responsible and ethical use of animals in research, teaching, and testing activities. Working closely with the Director, you'll provide leadership and subject matter expertise to ensure departmental operations align with federal and state regulations. You'll oversee reports of animal concerns, adverse events, and noncompliance issues while managing inspection, audit, and oversight processes that promote a culture of accountability and excellence. You'll partner with researchers and stakeholders across the institution, offering guidance on regulatory requirements and best practices. You'll also develop and deliver training that helps the research community navigate complex compliance expectations with confidence. Salary: $124,204.44/annually.
Provides leadership and management, under direction, of the post-approval unit including assigned staff to ensure efficient and compliant processes; including administrative support for IACUC semi-annual inspections and oversight of animal facilities and use locations, IACUC review and investigation of animal concerns, unanticipated adverse events and regulatory noncompliance, and performance of post-approval audits of animal use protocols on behalf of the IACUC. Ensures research is conducted in accordance with appropriate government regulations and guidance, funding agency specific guidelines, institutional policies, and accreditation standards. Develops, manages, and regularly reviews business practices, including data collection, retention and management tools, procedures, guidance, forms and other documents used for compliance processes related to areas of assignment. Ensures implementation of new practices in accordance with Federal requirements and institutional best practices. Interprets Federal regulations and institutional policies regarding research studies and other areas of compliance. Manages review of relevant protocol related submissions for completion and adherence to institutional polices and Federal regulations.
Oversees IACUC investigative subcommittees including assigned staff. Attends meetings and serves as a subject matter expert on Federal regulations and institutional policy during deliberations. Reviews outcome of IACUC inspections and investigations to identify potential AWO outreach, training and post-approval monitoring opportunities and oversees implementation of activities. Provides training and guidance to investigators and IACUC members. Conducts on-site and virtual visits to laboratories and animal housing locations with IACUC members or independently as a subject matter expert to ensure consistency with IACUC-approved animal activities and applicable regulations and accreditation requirements. Serves as a liaison to outside agencies and University units to ensure programs are in place to meet Federal, institutional, and accreditation requirements. Assists in the preparation of correspondence and reports to the IACUC, Institutional Official, and research community. Develops reports, analyses, and surveys as requested by Director.
