Job summary

Tyson Foods is seeking an Animal Welfare Specialist for the Newbern, TN area, covering multiple facilities. You will conduct audits, ensure compliance with safety and welfare standards, and train staff on animal handling practices.

The role requires travel to partner sites and strong data reporting to leadership. Qualified candidates have a Bachelor's or equivalent experience, PAACO certification or eligibility, and 2+ years in live animal production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in live animal production and/or processing.
• Experience with meat plant operations is a plus.
• Experience with Safety Chain and NR Database preferred.
• Strong data analysis and reporting skills.
• Willingness to travel 4–6 times per year.
• Must reside within the United States.

Responsibilities

• Conducts animal welfare and handling, regulatory, biosecurity, process evaluation and certification audits for live production facilities including transportation and handling audits.
• Audits from ownership of the animal through processing, ensuring compliance with company and governmental standards.
• Perform unannounced audits and document findings in Safety Chain and NR databases.
• Analyze audit data for trends and risks, and collaborate with plant leaders to implement improvements.
• Deliver training on animal welfare and handling, and maintain training records.
