Job summary

CAA shelter is seeking a Client Service Specialist to be the main point of contact for the public across in-person, phone, and email interactions. The role emphasizes compassionate customer service, animal welfare, and accurate data entry as part of the adoption process.

Responsibilities include counseling on animal care, scheduling veterinary visits via Petpoint, updating adoption listings, and maintaining orderly, clean workspaces in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; preferred certification(s) as applicable.
• Experience or ability to learn shelter policies and procedures.
• Ability to read animal behavior and handle animals safely.
• Strong communication and data entry skills.
• Ability to interact with the public, volunteers, and staff professionally.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-volume client service in person, by phone, and by email with courtesy.
• Counsel the public about basic animal care, housing, and medical responsibilities.
• Schedule veterinary and spay/neuter appointments using Petpoint.
• Update and maintain adoption advertisements on platforms like Petfinder.
• Document contact with the public and animals accurately in the system.
• Assist with admissions, redemption, and reunification of animals.
• Maintain an organized workstation and follow cleaning protocols to prevent disease spread.
• Ensure fees are collected correctly and cashbox is balanced at day end.
