Job summary

Fairfield County is seeking an animal care attendant to perform kennel sanitation, feed and water animals, and assist with medical needs and transport to clinics. The role requires attention to cleanliness and adherence to policy manuals.

Responsibilities include assisting with medications, euthanasia under supervision, and maintaining a safe facility. A high school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license are required, with six to nine months of related experience.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by six to nine months of animal care or related experience.
• Must possess euthanasia certification within one year of employment.
• Must possess a valid state driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular walk-through inspections of the facility.
• Maintain shelter cleanliness; wash kennels and sanitize.
• Feed animals; provide food and water to maintain health.
• Transport animals to clinics for spaying and neutering.
• Assist Animal Control officers with medications and euthanasia.
• Refer to policy and procedure manuals.
• Operate a vehicle and equipment as needed (telephone, radio, copier).
• Regular attendance required.
• Perform related duties as required.
