Pender County Government is seeking an Animal Shelter Attendant to manage daily operations at the shelter. We are seeking a dedicated individual to perform activities related to operating our animal shelter. Responsibilities include cleaning and disinfecting kennels, cages, and runs; feeding and handling animals; and performing maintenance tasks within the facility. The role also involves clerical duties such as maintaining records and files, and interacting with the public for animal adoptions and boarding services. Work is conducted under the supervision of the Animal Shelter Manager.
Starting salary is $34,117.79 annually, with potential for negotiation based on experience and skills.

High school diploma or equivalent required; at least one year of kennel or shelter experience preferred. Education in animal behavior and shelter operations is a plus.
This position is safety-sensitive and subject to substance abuse testing. Must be physically capable of performing duties that may involve heavy lifting, stooping, and running. Work environment includes exposure to dust, noise, fumes, odors, and variable weather conditions, including outdoor work.
