The City of Rancho Cordova is seeking an experienced Animal Services Supervisor to lead the daily operations of the City's Animal Services Division within the Neighborhood Services Department. This hands-on supervisory position leads and develops Animal Services staff while overseeing field operations, enforcement activities, complex investigations, and the delivery of responsive, professional services to the community.
The Animal Services Supervisor will oversee day-to-day field services and enforcement operations; provide technical leadership on complex and high-risk cases involving dangerous animals, cruelty, neglect, and animal seizures; support emergency and on-call operations; and coordinate with law enforcement, veterinarians, shelters, rescue organizations, regulatory agencies, and other community partners.
The ideal candidate is an experienced animal services professional and people-focused leader who can effectively balance staff leadership, field operations, animal welfare, public safety, and customer service. Candidates should have strong knowledge of animal services enforcement and investigations, sound judgment in complex or emergency situations, and the ability to coach and develop staff while remaining actively engaged in field operations when needed.

This position requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime, and emergency/on-call assignments as operational needs require. The selected candidate must also reside within a 45-minute commute of the work site.
