City of Clovis is seeking an Animal Services Officer to enforce animal regulations, assist with care and adoption, license animals, and perform capture and release of wild animals as needed.
Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, plus six months of experience with dogs, cats, and/or farm animals. Desirable: college coursework in animal science; CA driver’s license with good record. On-call and weekend shifts may apply.
Under the supervision of the Supervisor of Animal Services: Performs animal control functions (animal regulations enforcement; animal care and adoption; licensing; capture and release of wild animals); and performs related work as required.
Incumbent may work with immediate supervision or independently and may be on call during off-duty hours for emergency situations. Positions in this class perform work which is structured, seldom varies, and is performed in accordance with established instructions, methods, and procedures. Incumbents receive thorough instructions when tasks are initially assigned and after training are expected to perform duties without constant supervision. Incumbent is expected to refer to the supervisor for instruction matters which do not conform to established instruction, policy, or procedure.
