Job summary

Zoetis, Inc. seeks a Lab Technician 1 to support hematology and urinalysis testing for animal health diagnostics. The role involves preparing samples, operating analyzers, and maintaining accurate records in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

You will work with veterinarians and lab staff to ensure high-quality results, follow SOPs, and document QC and environmental logs. This is a full-time, on-site position in the Global Diagnostics division.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Requires 1-2 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
• Proficient knowledge in hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, endocrinology, parasitology, cytology.

Responsibilities

• Prepare biological specimens for testing across hematology, urinalysis, serology, chemistry, endocrinology, parasitology, cytology, and coagulation.
• Operate high-throughput analyzers, microscopes, and diagnostic equipment on various sample types (blood, serum, urine, feces).
• Set up and execute tests, review results, and release findings per SOPs.
• Perform maintenance on analyzers (daily to as-needed).
• Troubleshoot one major department analyzer.
• Review daily QC reports and Levey-Jennings charts.
• Handle and store specimens per SOP.
• Maintain clean and organized workspace.
• Dispose of biohazardous waste per regulations.
• Maintain logs and records (maintenance, environmental, cleaning, courier logs).
• Prepare specimens for shipment to offsite facilities per regulatory standards (DOT).
• Receive, store, and log supplies.
• Operate and maintain secondary lab equipment (centrifuges, pipettes, heating blocks, slide stainers).
• Follow Zoetis Reference Laboratories SOPs and training.
