Zusammenfassung

The University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking an Animal Laboratory Specialist I to support the Animal Resources Program (ARP) across specialized areas such as gnotobiotic, yellow room husbandry, zebrafish/aquatics, biocontainment, rodent health, enrichment, and more. Responsibilities include animal care, equipment maintenance, and health surveillance activities.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED with at least one year of related experience, and AALAS certification is preferred.

Qualifikationen

• High School diploma or GED and one (1) year of related experience required.
• Certified at any level by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) is preferred.

Aufgaben

• Applies general knowledge of animal biology, husbandry, and animal facility operations to the function of a specialized division of ARP in accordance with requirements and established procedures.
• Maintains knowledge of any training general requirements set forth within ARP and/or related to the specialized area.
• Serves as specialized area contact and as a resource for all staff and guests.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
