Job summary

The University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking a specialized ARP staff member to perform essential duties for gnotobiotic, zebrafish/aquatics, biocontainment, and other areas. You will provide animal care, uphold safety and quality standards, and support health surveillance and record keeping.

Responsibilities include routine husbandry, equipment upkeep, and assisting with area-specific projects. Weekend/holiday duties may be required; strong teamwork and meticulous attention to detail are

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required with 1 year of related experience.
• AALAS certification at any level is preferred.
• Ability to problem-solve, multi-task and work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Applies knowledge of animal biology, husbandry and facility operations to a specialized ARP division.
• Maintains knowledge of training requirements within ARP.
• Serves as a specialized area contact and resource for staff and guests.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
