• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate degree in animal science and/or criminal law.
• Considerable experience involving contact with the public and in handling and caring for animals.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct the animal control program, including field officers, shelter, and administrative staff.
• Respond to citizen requests for service, capture and confine stray or unlicensed animals, and assist with humane treatment or disposal as needed.
• Coordinate with the Animal Control Board, local Humane Society, rescue groups, and emergency services during disasters.
• Advance the county's spay/neuter efforts and promote adoption and fostering.
