Job summary

Clayton County Animal Control seeks an Animal Control Rescue Coordinator to assist the Animal Control Unit with rescuing abandoned animals and implementing proactive strategies to improve pet welfare. This role supports spay/neuter programs and long-term solutions for responsible pet ownership in Clayton County.

The coordinator will liaise with rescues, the Humane Society, and the public, coordinate transport, and manage records for animals found and their disposition in a professional manner.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; associate’s degree or equivalent college credit hours preferred; four years of experience in animal control, marketing, humane society, or similar occupations; valid Georgia driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Liaises between the Animal Control Unit and licensed Pet Rescues to locate placement for abandoned animals.
• Assists rescue groups with transportation efforts.
• Coordinates rescue efforts with the Clayton County Humane Society.
• Uses media to reach citizens who can provide homes for abandoned animals.
• Creates and implements proactive adoption strategies for abandoned animals.
• Oversees spay and neuter programs for impounded animals as required by the County Code.
• Assists leadership in developing long-term solutions for responsible pet ownership.
• Completes, reviews, and stores records on animals found and their disposition.
• Interacts with staff from other departments, rescue groups, humane society, and the public to respond to inquiries and meet goals.
