Job summary

Fayette County Animal Control is seeking a Field Operations Supervisor to lead the enforcement of animal control ordinances and oversee humane care in protective custody. The role involves supervising officers, coordinating field and shelter operations, and ensuring proper intake and medical procedures for animals.

Responsibilities include staff scheduling, on-call coordination, incident reporting, court preparation, and after-hours response.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with high school completion.
• Experience typical of an apprenticeship/internship or having held a similar position for one to two years.
• Possession of or the ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service while in shelter and in field.
• Manage Animal Control Officers, assigning work schedule, daily assignments and on call schedule including offsite events as needed.
• Oversee intake procedures ensuring all animals are given proper vaccinations and exams upon being brought into shelter.
• Respond to calls from citizens; investigate reports of cruelty; file incident reports; enforce citations; impound, aid ill or injured animals; handle bite reports and quarantine arrangements.
• Oversee safe housing and disposition of animals in bite quarantine.
• Assist Veterinarian with euthanasia when needed.
• Assess animals with Kennel Supervisor for program participation.
• Work with Kennel Supervisor to assign staff for cleaning and disinfecting kennels; provide medical care to animals; feed and monitor health.
• Answer multiple phone lines; process complaints; dispatch field officers; record intakes and adoptions; prepare rabies specimens; court filings and testimonies.
• Train new Animal Control Officers.
• Transport deceased animals for disposal.
• Help with daily shelter cleaning and animal care.
• Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
