Job summary

City of Temple, TX is seeking an Animal Services Field Supervisor to oversee Animal Control Officers in the field and perform frontline enforcement as required. The role leads staff, manages timekeeping, inventory, and serves as a primary liaison between the shelter, law enforcement, and external agencies.

The incumbent supports shelter operations and ensures compliance with safety and certification requirements while planning and directing activities for maximum effectiveness.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Three years of animal control experience.
• Two years in a lead or supervisory role.
• Valid driver’s license with clear record.
• Advanced Animal Control Certification or equivalent within 1 year.
• Administrative Animal Control Certification or equivalent within 1 year.
• Certified Euthanasia Technician or equivalent within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Supervise ACO field operations and direct activities for efficiency.
• Assist in hiring and training Animal Control Officers.
• Conduct annual performance reviews and administer corrective actions.
• Train ACOs in field procedures and ensure certifications are kept.
• Serve as a liaison between shelter, law enforcement and agencies.
• Coordinate with Shelter Manager and Police on field activities.
• Prepare charging documents and testify in court when needed.
• Manage timekeeping, inventory logistics and budget notes.
• Support shelter operations including adoptions and intakes when needed.
