Job summary

The City of Georgetown, Texas is seeking an Animal Control Supervisor to oversee staff, enforce city animal codes, and manage rabies control and impoundment operations. You will coach and evaluate personnel, coordinate scheduling, and respond to emergencies and nuisance complaints.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma, at least three years as an Animal Control Officer, leadership experience, and knowledge of veterinary topics, humane handling, and city policies.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Three (3) years of full‑time work experience as an Animal Control Officer.
• One (1) year in a field related to animal control and one year in customer service/relations.
• One (1) year of lead or supervisory capacity.

Responsibilities

• Recommends for hire, supervises, and develops staff.
• Oversees animal control processes, enforcement and investigations.
• Responds to and resolves customer complaints in areas such as animal nuisance and rabies control.
• Patrols the city to identify and eliminate animal nuisances.
• Manages employee scheduling to meet business needs.
• Investigates animal bites and potential rabies exposures.
• Impounds and transports stray animals, lifting up to 100 lbs.
• Monitors cases and ensures timely follow-ups.
• Assists in case investigations and legal procedures.
• Performs customer service at the Animal Shelter, including counseling owners and adopters, and licensing intake.
• Euthanizes animals when necessary using humane methods.
• Responds to emergencies and ordinance violations, and after-hours calls.
• Writes reports and maintains records.
