Position Overview:
The duties include cleaning animal enclosures, maintaining animal shelter facilities, grounds, and the incinerator; handling, caring for, feeding, and restraining animals; vaccinating, microchipping, administering medication, and drawing blood for health checks. Additional responsibilities involve answering phones, assisting customers, working with animal rescue groups, processing adoptions, transfers, reclaims, and city registrations; guiding community service workers and volunteers; maintaining records; and performing euthanasia. The role requires excellent customer service skills and physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. No prior experience is necessary; however, relevant experience and bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are beneficial. Candidates must obtain euthanasia certification within six months of hire. The schedule typically involves five days per week, eight hours per day, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. A resume must accompany the application. Starting pay is $17.90 per hour, in Pay Grade GG09, with a full range of $17.90 to $23.57 per hour.
