Job description

Animal Care Manager: West Place Animal Sanctuary

Responsibilities:

1. Supervise daily operations, including volunteer program management, animal care, nutrition, medical administration, and equipment maintenance.
2. Train and oversee volunteers in feeding, cleaning, and maintaining resident areas.
3. Manage waste removal, composting, and sanitation procedures.
4. Oversee equipment cleaning, maintenance, and storage.
5. Create additional tasks for volunteers as needed.
6. Perform daily health checks on animals and administer supplements, medications, or injections as required.
7. Report health issues to the Operations Manager or Executive Director.
8. Update training manuals regularly.

Volunteer and Intern Program Management:

1. Assess volunteer staffing needs in collaboration with department managers.
2. Match volunteers with suitable activities and track their training completion.
3. Maintain volunteer data and communicate regularly with volunteers.
4. Develop recognition and appreciation programs, including training high-profile volunteers as shift supervisors.
5. Manage communication channels with volunteers and develop comprehensive orientation for interns.

Property and Building Management:

1. Ensure buildings are maintained and cleaned.
2. Coordinate repairs with handyperson volunteers.
3. Monitor utility usage and promote conservation.
4. Maintain overall property cleanliness.

Skills and Physical Requirements:

• Enthusiasm and strong organizational skills.

• Proficiency with relevant programs and apps.

• Ability to handle large animals, stand for long periods, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Job Details:

• Type: Full-time
• Salary: $40,000/year
• Schedule: 9-5:30, Wednesday – Sunday, including holidays
• Benefits: Employee discount, 10 days PTO
