Job summary

NOCO Humane is seeking a Behavior Manager to lead the Behavior and Foster/Transfer teams across Loveland, Greeley, and Evans, CO. You’ll guide staff, oversee behavior assessments, and shape lifesaving programs for animals in our care.

The role requires a BA/BS in a related field or equivalent experience, plus a recognized certification in animal behavior and a track record in positive reinforcement training. This full‑time, exempt position includes relocation support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience required.
• ABAA certification required; IAABC affiliation desired.
• Minimum two years hands‑on companion animal training/behavior assessment.
• Proven experience with positive reinforcement training.
• Two years of direct staff or four years volunteer supervision required.

Responsibilities

• Hire, manage, and supervise Behavior and Foster/Transfer staff and volunteers; provide training and growth opportunities.
• Oversee staffing, scheduling, payroll approval, performance reviews, and discipline.
• Develop SOPs for Behavior/Enrichment and Foster/Transfer; ensure compliance with regulations.
• Monitor census, shelter supplies, and medical necessities; act as escalation point for complex decisions.
• Conduct daily behavior assessments and enrichment; determine outcomes (adoption, foster, transfer, or euthanasia).
• Lead behavior rounds; respond to inquiries from staff and community.
• Develop budgets, goals, and long‑term plans; provide monthly data reporting.
• Deliver community education and collaborate across departments; support events and fundraising.
