Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking an Anesthesia Technician to support anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists in the operating room. You will help prepare and set up equipment, assist with patient care, and ensure all supplies are ready for each surgical case.

You will operate and maintain routine anesthesia equipment, monitor blood samples as needed, and apply sterile technique in a fast-paced hospital environment. Experience in the OR and a commitment to patient safety are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Experience in the OR and familiarity with OR supplies.
• Knowledge of sterile technique and asepsis.

The Anesthesia Technician supports the anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists by the preparation and set up of appropriate equipment and supplies for each surgical case. This includes connecting monitoring lines preparing infusion sets, applying to the patient, and operating all common physiological monitors and drawing arterial blood gas and other blood specimens. Able to operate, calibrate and perform routine maintenance on a variety of technical equipment used in the operating room. In the operation of activated coagulation time the incumbent must be able to apply several specialized tests to analyze blood clotting in patients undergoing surgery.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
  
• Experience in the OR and be familiar with OR supplies and the hospital setting.
  
• Knowledge of sterile technique, asepsis, and ability to apply such skills.

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

• Certification as an Anesthesia Technician or Technologist.
