Job summary

Ardent Health Services is hiring a full-time Anesthesia Technologist in Montclair, NJ. You will support anesthesiologists, nurses, and the surgical team by preparing and sanitizing equipment, setting up anesthesia gas machines, and stocking supplies.

Strong multitasking and English fluency are essential for a fast-paced clinical environment. Ideal candidates have completed an accredited Anesthesia Technologist program and hold BLS certification within 14 days of hire.

Qualifications

• BL S certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer and prior to direct patient care.
• Fluency in English is required to function effectively.
• Strong interpersonal communication, teamwork and customer service skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a clinical setting.
• Capacity to react to changes quickly and productively amid interruptions.
• Ability to work with minimal direction and guide others when needed.
• Remain flexible, organized and professional; make sound decisions under stress.
• Knowledge of computer systems; Epic experience is a plus.
• Demonstrate maturity and accountability.

Responsibilities

• Clean, maintain, and prepare anesthesia equipment for surgical procedures.
• Set up anesthesia gas machines and check gas lines prior to operations.
• Prepare supplies for intubation, invasive lines, and monitoring tools.
• Break down and sanitize anesthesia areas; prep for next case.
• Inspect and calibrate medical devices; document equipment inspections.
• Ensure equipment repair or replacement as needed.
• Stock supplies in anesthetizing areas, including carts and airway bags.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Perform any additional duties as assigned.

• Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center is an 820,000-square-foot facility that offers the latest medical programs, cutting-edge technology, and patient-focused care that includes 365 beds, 1,200+ employees, and a 27-bed Emergency Room/Fast Track Unit.

Responsibilities

• Anesthesia Technicians assist anesthesiologists, nurses, anesthetists, and other medical staff working on anesthesia teams. Their main responsibility is to clean, maintain, and prepare anesthesia equipment for use in surgical procedures.
• Engage in various pre-operation responsibilities such as setting up the anesthesia gas machine and checking gas lines.
• Prepare supplies for intubation, central breathing lines, oxygen measurement tools, and more.
• Break down equipment, sanitize the anesthesia area, and set up for the next case following the completion of all surgical procedures.
• Check, calibrate, and test medical equipment such as machines, monitors, invasive lines, and pharmaceuticals.
• Keep daily records of their equipment inspections.
• Ensure anesthesia equipment is repaired or replaced when/if equipment malfunctions.
• Stock needed supplies in any anesthetizing areas, including bronchoscopy carts, pediatric carts, and emergency room airway bags.
• Spot opportunities for improving efficiency and containing costs within anesthesia areas.
• Perform any and all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
• Position requires fluency in the English language to function in the job environment appropriately.
• Good interpersonal communication, teamwork, and customer service skills.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and follow-through skills; ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.
• Ability to multitask constantly, react to changes quickly/productively, and tolerate interruptions.
• Ability to perform work when no directions are given, and give directions to others.
• Remain flexible, organized, professional, and able to analyze and make sound decisions under stressful or crises.
• Demonstrate knowledge of current computer systems, equipment, or programs used in the organization; knowledge of Epic is a plus.
• Demonstrate maturity and accountability.

Preferred Job Requirements

• Graduated from an accredited Anesthesia Technologist training program.
• Minimum of 1+ years’ experience as an Anesthesia Tech in a hospital setting.
