Qualifications

Job Description

The Anesthesia Technician 1 provides support to the Anesthesiologist and Nurse Anesthetist for routine/complex cases and procedures to ensure quality patient care. This role assists in the preparation and maintenance of patient equipment and anesthesia delivery systems before, during, and after anesthesia. Maintains stock levels per template.

Job Responsibilities

• Assists and anticipates the needs of the Anesthesiologist in invasive monitor insertion and procedures such as pulmonary artery catheter, central venous access, fiberoptic intubation, and difficult airway situations per hospital policy.
• Demonstrates technical knowledge and troubleshooting ability for anesthesia delivery systems, gas analyzers, EKG, and pulse oximeters per manufacturer guidelines.
• Prepares and assembles supplies and equipment for auto-transfusion and rapid infusion under the direction of the anesthesia provider. Maintains quality control records, cart inventories, and audits per OSHA and TJC standards and hospital policies.
• Performs daily anesthesia machine checks as per manufacturer recommendations.
• Assists in preparation and draping of the patient for invasive monitoring procedures.
• Assists with the application of monitoring devices and manages fluid and blood/blood product administration.
• Retrieves and delivers products to and from the blood bank and accompanies the anesthesia provider to the care unit.
• Transports medications from pharmacy or authorized locations to licensed healthcare professionals.
• May perform additional duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements

• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) upon start.
• Licensure: None required.
• Experience: At least 6 months in a clinical environment.
• Education: High School diploma or GED.
