Qualifications

Job description

The Anesthesia Technician 1 provides support to the Anesthesiologist and Nurse Anesthetist for routine/complex cases and procedures to ensure quality of patient care. This role assists in the preparation and maintenance of patient equipment and anesthesia delivery systems before, during and after anesthesia. Maintains stock levels per template.



Job Responsibilities

• Assists and anticipates needs of Anesthesiologist in invasive monitor insertion and procedures such as pulmonary artery catheter, central venous access, fiberoptic intubation and difficult airway situations per hospital policy.


• Demonstrates detailed technical knowledge and troubleshooting ability for anesthesia delivery systems, gas analyzer, EKG and pulse oximeter per manufacture guidelines.


• Prepares and assembles all necessary supplies and equipment for auto-transfusion and rapid infusion under the direction of the anesthesia provider. Maintains quality control records, cart inventories and audits per OSHA and TJC standards and hospital policies.


• Performs manufacturer recommended daily anesthesia machine checks according to Standard Work Document.


• Assists in preparation and draping of the patient for invasive monitoring procedures by the anesthesia care provider.


• Assists with the correct application of monitoring devices. Manages fluid and blood/blood product administration.


• Retrieves and delivers products to and from blood bank. Accompanies the anesthesia provider to the appropriate care unit.


• Transports medications from pharmacy or authorized location (e.g. pneumatic tube system) to licensed healthcare professional.


• May perform additional duties as assigned.
