Job summary

MetroHealth Medical Center in Parma, OH is seeking an Anesthesia Technician to assist the anesthesia care provider with acquiring, preparing and using equipment during anesthesia administration. You will maintain equipment, set up and clean, and help ensure efficient turnover between cases.

The role requires high school diploma, knowledge of medical terminology, and solid communication skills. Preferred are ASATT/BLS credentials and related experience in perioperative care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in perioperative protocols (sterile technique and field avoidance), sterilization, or clinical sanitation.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Reliable transportation to travel to various MetroHealth facilities and other locations as needed.
• Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Biology/chemistry coursework preferred.
• Cer.A.T.T. certification preferred.
• BLS; expected completion within 6 months of hiring.
• One or more years of experience in clinical anesthesia, allied health, nursing, military medical support or related training.
• Graduate of ASATT approved educational program.

Responsibilities

• Assist anesthesia care provider with acquiring, preparing and use of equipment and supplies during the administration of anesthesia.
• Maintain anesthesia equipment, i.e., setting up, calibrating, cleaning, and performing minor repairs.
• Participate in operating room cleanup and setup to facilitate efficient turnover between surgical cases.
• Take inventory and maintain anesthesia cart supplies in all anesthesia locations throughout the system.
• Assist with patient transport and assist in the return of equipment to designated storage area upon completion.
• Perform routine and delegated duties according to MH System policies.
• Uphold the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.
