Job summary

Bay Pines VA Medical Center seeks a Medical Instrument Technician (Anesthesia) to provide anesthesia support across the medical center. The incumbent will set up anesthesia machines, monitors, and access devices, assist with invasive monitoring and regional anesthesia, and help maintain equipment and supplies while ensuring aseptic technique and patient safety.

The role requires knowledge of anesthesia equipment, ability to troubleshoot during procedures, and readiness to work with anesthesia

Qualifications

• No specific educational requirements; substitution allowed for experience at lower grades
• Must be proficient in English, spoken and written
• Basic Life Support certification desirable
• Full performance level for GS-8 with independent judgment and supervision of others

Responsibilities

• Set up anesthesia machines and monitoring equipment in operating suites and out-of-OR locations
• Assist anesthesia professionals with patient positioning, monitoring calibration and invasive line placement
• Maintain stock levels of supplies and drugs in anesthesia carts and workrooms
• Ensure aseptic technique and adhere to safety and OSHA guidelines
