Job summary

Mass General Brigham's Newton-Wellesley Hospital seeks an Anesthesia Technician to support anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists in setup, care and maintenance of anesthesia equipment. This onsite role emphasizes equipment maintenance, inventory management, and coordination with Biomedical Engineering for safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Previous experience as an Anesthesia Technician preferred.
• Must be self-directed and work well independently.
• Adheres to hospital policies/procedures relative to vendors, evaluation of equipment, supplies, etc.

Responsibilities

• Sets up, cares for, and maintains all anesthesia equipment and related supplies.
• Provides general and specific assistance to anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists.
• Inventories and orders supplies from purchasing, storeroom and pharmacy.
• Coordinates with Purchasing and Biomedical Engineering for preventive maintenance and service contracts.
• Performs light maintenance and calibrations of equipment per manufacturer specifications.
• Ensures compliance with JCAHO standards and safety protocols.
• Cleans and maintains reusable/contaminated equipment per standards.
• Maintains stock data records for budget verification and justification.
• Assists in basic nursing care and patient activities of daily living as needed.
