Job summary

Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is seeking a skilled coding specialist focused on anesthesia and complex inpatient/outpatient coding. You will assign CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes, ensuring accurate billing and regulatory compliance.

You will work with providers and revenue cycle teams to optimize documentation, coding accuracy, and timely charge submission within Epic. A CPC/CCS-type credential is preferred, with patient care billing experience and strong analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Hands-on anesthesia coding experience and CPT/ICD-10-CM/HCPCS coding.
• Experience coding inpatient and outpatient encounters in physician and facility settings.
• Strong knowledge of Evaluation & Management (E/M) leveling and guidelines.
• Familiarity with charge capture, data entry, and revenue cycle processes.
• Proficiency with Epic and similar EHR systems.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records to determine diagnoses and procedures for billing.
• Submit coded services for billing and data entry with accuracy.
• Review inpatient data and resolve coding edits and omissions.
• Ensure compliance with CPT/ICD-10 CMS and CHOP guidelines.
• Collaborate with providers and care teams to improve documentation.
