Job description

  • Design, build, and ship native Android apps in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose that run smoothly on everything from budget phones to foldables and tablets
  • Turn product ideas and Figma designs into polished, accessible, high-performance features, from first prototype to Google Play release
  • Build clean, testable architecture using MVVM, MVI, or Clean Architecture, with modular, multi-module codebases that scale across teams
  • Integrate REST and GraphQL APIs, WebSockets, Firebase Cloud Messaging, and third-party SDKs, and handle offline sync, background work, and error states gracefully
  • Use Kotlin Coroutines and Flow, Hilt or Koin, Room, DataStore, WorkManager, Retrofit, and Jetpack libraries to keep code simple and reliable
  • Write unit, UI, and screenshot tests (JUnit, Espresso, Compose Testing, MockK, Paparazzi) and keep CI/CD pipelines healthy with GitHub Actions, Bitrise, CircleCI, or Jenkins
  • Profile and tune startup time, memory, battery, and rendering with Android Studio Profiler and Baseline Profiles, and track stability in Firebase Crashlytics, Sentry, or Datadog
  • Own Google Play Console releases, staged rollouts, feature flags, A/B tests, and Play policy compliance
  • Build with accessibility (TalkBack), localization, dark mode, and Material Design 3 in mind
  • Support security and compliance needs such as Keystore, biometrics, encrypted storage, certificate pinning, and, where relevant, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, or SOC 2
  • Use AI-assisted tools (Gemini in Android Studio, Copilot, Claude, or similar) carefully to speed up boilerplate, tests, and debugging, with your own judgment and code review on everything you ship
  • Review pull requests, share knowledge, and collaborate daily with product, design, iOS, backend, and QA teammates
  • Stay current with new Android releases, Google I/O announcements, and emerging tech like Kotlin Multiplatform, Wear OS, Android Auto, and on-device AI
  • Level Typical experience What you’ll own
  • Android Developer I / Junior - 0-2 years : Well-scoped features, bug fixes, tests, and UI polish, learning with a dedicated mentor and a clear path to mid-level
  • Android Developer II - 2-5 years : Owning features end to end, contributing to architecture decisions, improving app performance and quality, and mentoring newer developers
  • Senior Android Developer - 5+ years : Setting app architecture and standards, leading major initiatives and releases, driving technical decisions across teams, and growing the Android practice

Promotion criteria are written down at every level, with regular career conversations. Many of our Android developers have moved into staff engineer, mobile architect, engineering manager, and product engineering roles.
