Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including time leading a team or owning a major surface while staying hands-on.
• Rock solid Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background work.
• Understanding of the importance of tests and how to approach writing them.
• Proven ability to introduce processes or techniques that stuck with a team.
• Comfort with challenging others to change how they work and managing associated friction.
• Ability to describe how your team works with AI agents.
• Product design intuition and user empathy for Android UI/UX.
• Self-drive to improve the app and codebase beyond the spec.

Responsibilities

• Own major features end to end, working closely with our design team — from the decision through to release.
• Own, maintain, and improve reliability metrics for key features
• Review pull requests and give constructive feedback
• Unblock the team when blockers occur and take a hands-on approach
• Drive changes so the team uses the best version of shared components
• Keep shared pieces maintained, tested, and understandable
• Lead how the team works and when to change processes
• Reduce manual interventions to ensure correct releases
• Address recurring problems by changing underlying setups
• Grow automated checks so nightly QA is confident
• Run planning to focus on remaining decisions
• Assess review workload and sign-off patterns
• Participate with Product, Design, and Engineering early to align constraints
• Handle critical issues and ensure nightly builds for QA
• Mentor junior engineers to provide learning opportunities
