Job summary

Fairview Health Services in Minneapolis is seeking an Anatomic Pathology Technician to support the Cytology laboratory at M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center-East Bank. This full-time, benefit-eligible role follows a Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Qualifications

• 24 college credits with at least 12 in chemistry or biological sciences
• 24 credits plus 2 years of clinical or anatomic lab experience
• 0 to 1 year experience in a clinical or anatomic diagnostic lab
• Bone marrow collection skills for hematopathology position
• Knowledge of anatomy
• Evisceration and dissection skills
• Ability to work under stress in various situations
• Demonstrate independent judgement
• Manual dexterity
• Basic computer and keyboarding skills

Responsibilities

• Procure specimens and assist in their procurement.
• Process specimens including test setup and labeling.
• Verify specimen identity and test order accuracy.
• Enter data into LIS with correct patient demographics.
• Maintain clean and organized workspace and supply levels.
• Assist pathologists and technologists with specimen prep and sectioning.
• Operate laboratory instruments per written procedures.
• Maintain instrument maintenance records and safety protocols.
• Communicate abnormal or critical results to care providers as needed.
