Job summary

Fairview Health Services seeks a Cytogenetics Technologist for the CG department at the M Health Fairview Center. The role involves 8-hour day shifts, occasional weekend and holiday rotation, and working with GBAND, Microarray, and FISH testing to guide patient care.

The ideal candidate has a cytogenetics background, tissue culture experience, and strong analytical skills to support high-complexity testing and performance improvement activities within a leading lab.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate or higher degree in a related laboratory field, including practicum.
• NAACLS accredited cytogenetics training or equivalent.
• ASCP or ASCPi – CG eligibility within 1–2 years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Follow guidelines to obtain specimens and prioritize work.
• Perform GBAND, Microarray, and/or FISH analysis.
• Correlate clinical history with findings to aid in diagnosis.
• Directly communicate results to Medical Director/Pathologists.
• Maintain instrument readiness and QC documentation.
• Assist with problem solving and troubleshooting in lab procedures.
