Job summary

UW Medicine - Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology in Seattle is seeking an Anatomic Pathology Technician for the Cytology Team at Harborview Medical Center. This 100% FTE role performs specimen processing, accessioning, slide preparation, and cytology support for technologists, faculty, and students.

Qualifications

• Certified, or certified within two years from hire, at the Technician level by a recognized certifying agency.
• Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications where no license is required.

Responsibilities

• Receive and accession cytology specimens and enter orders in Epic Beaker with correct codes.
• Process cytology gynecological samples, stain slides, and prepare slides for review.
• Handle non-gynecological cytology specimens and track turn-around times.
• Prepare cell blocks and archive specimens per department procedures.
• Maintain equipment and workspace, decontaminate glassware, and restock supplies.
• Assist in fine needle aspirations and prepare stained slides for rapid review.
• Answer inquiries about specimen requirements and case status; triage calls.
