Job summary

The Anatomic and Clinical Pathologist Physician at the Washington DC VA Medical Center will serve as a full-time attending physician to provide direct medical care for veteran patients, interpreting routine and intraoperative tissue and cytology samples to reach accurate diagnoses guiding clinical decisions.

You will join the VA's pathology service, supervise residents, and participate in education, research, and quality assurance activities while ensuring compliance with licensure and

Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible for VA appointment.
  • MD or equivalent in allopathic/osteopathic medicine.
  • Current, full and unrestricted medical license in DC or US state.
  • Completion of approved residency in anatomic/clinical pathology.
  • Board certification or eligibility as required by VA.
  • Excellent English communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct medical care for veterans through interpretation of tissue and cytology samples.
  • Perform intraoperative consultations and cytology interpretations.
  • Establish diagnoses to guide clinical patient management and patient care.
  • Supervise pathology residents and trainees during clinical activities.
  • Oversee laboratory operations, QA and regulatory compliance.
  • Engage in teaching, research, and quality improvement within the pathology service.
