Job summary

Energy Transfer Partners, L.P. in Mont Belvieu, TX, seeks an analytical technician to support the Measurement Team.

The role operates and maintains on-line analyzers, sample systems, and lab equipment to meet operational needs while complying with safety and regulatory requirements. You will perform calibration, inspections, and maintenance, collect samples, and provide technical support for product quality.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with our customer base.
  • Some college or technical trade school is preferred.
  • PC skills including proficiency with Word, Access, and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Install, service, and troubleshoot process and lab analytical equipment.
  • Perform calibration, inspection and maintenance of equipment for quality determination.
  • Provide technical support for product quality issues.
  • Inspect and maintain all sample systems for online analyzers.
  • Communicate technical information across the organization and provide reports.
  • Collect Liquid/Gas samples in compliance with safety guidelines.
  • Participate in partnership safety program and initiatives.

Summary

This position provides on-going analytical support to the Measurement Team. Operates and maintains process on-line analyzers, sample systems, lab analytical equipment, and performs inspections and calibrations in a manner to meet operational needs in compliance with partnership and regulatory requirements.

Essential duties and responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The essential job duties for this position are listed below:

  • Installation, service, and troubleshooting for process and lab analytical equipment to support process units and storage facilities.
  • Perform periodic accuracy tests including the calibration, inspection and maintenance of all equipment related to quality determination.
  • Provide technical support for product quality issues.
  • Inspect and maintain all sample system related to on-line analyzers.
  • Communicating technical information across the organization including providing reports and information in a timely manner.
  • Collect Liquid/Gas samples in compliance with partnership safety and industry guidelines.
  • Actively participate in partnership safety program and initiatives.
Required Education
  • High school diploma or GED.
Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level
  • Level C requires a minimum of 0 - 2 years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience.
  • Level B requires a minimum of 2 - 4 years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience.
  • Level A requires a minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience.
Required Qualifications
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications
  • PC skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel.
  • Strong fundamental math skills; able to understand simple chemistry and physical characteristics of hydrocarbon molecules.
  • Some college or technical trade school is preferred.
Working Conditions

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Driving, walking, standing frequently.
  • Exposure to adverse weather, cramped conditions and some heavy lifting
    Visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
