Job summary

Intertek is seeking a Laboratory Technician II – Analytical Geochemistry in Houston, TX to join our team. You will perform routine duties to ensure high-quality laboratory services are delivered safely, legally, and efficiently.

Responsibilities include receiving and logging samples, preparing reagents, calibrating instruments (GC, GC-MS, GC-FID, GC-SCD, HTGC, HPLC), analyzing data, entering results, maintaining records, and assisting in training junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Chemistry, Petroleum Engineering, Geosciences or extensive relevant work experience.
• 3+ years laboratory experience with GC, GC-MS, GC-FID, GC-SCD and GC-TCD operations and/or HTGC, HPLC.
• Ability to troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance of GC systems; data acquisition software experience.

Responsibilities

• Receive, examine, and log inbound items for testing.
• Deliver test samples to the sample staging area.
• Monitor supplies and notify Lab Management of needs.
• Prepare samples and QC specimens; standardize reagents and calibrate equipment.
• Perform testing of samples using specified methodologies.
• Verify results and enter data into logs and records for traceability.
• Maintain documentation, equipment, and an orderly work area.
• Assist in training less experienced employees.
