Job summary

Intertek in Houston, TX is seeking a Laboratory Technician II – Analytical Geochemistry to join our team on-site. The role focuses on delivering high-quality testing services with strict safety, ethics, and quality standards while meeting timelines.

The candidate will receive, prepare, test, and document samples using GC, GC-MS, HPLC, and related instruments, calibrate equipment, and mentor junior staff in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Chemistry, Petroleum Engineering, Geosciences or equivalent.
• 3+ years laboratory experience required.
• Familiarity with GC, GC-MS, GC-FID, GC-SCD, GC-TCD, HTGC and HPLC.
• Strong MS Excel skills for data processing.
• Able to troubleshoot and perform routine GC system maintenance.
• Experience with crude oil characterization instrumentation.
• Positive attitude with ability to multitask and collaborate.

Responsibilities

• Receive, examine, and log inbound items for testing.
• Deliver test samples to the sample staging area.
• Monitor supplies and notify Laboratory Management of needs.
• Prepare samples, reagents, calibrate equipment for testing.
• Perform testing using specified methodologies and record results.
• Verify results and enter data into logs and records for traceability.
• Maintain documentation, equipment, and work areas in order.
• Assist in training less experienced employees.
• Adhere to safety, quality, ethics, and environmental policies.
