Job summary

Intertek in Houston, TX seeks a Laboratory Technician II – Analytical Geochemistry to perform routine duties ensuring high-quality laboratory services, safe and ethical operations, and timely analysis.

You will prepare samples, operate GC, GC-MS, and HPLC instruments, maintain logs and documentation, assist training, and support management in supply and safety policies while contributing to Intertek's quality assurance mission.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Chemistry, Petroleum Engineering, Geosciences or related field.
• 3+ years lab experience with GC, GC-MS, GC-FID, GC-SCD, GC-TCD and HTGC, HPLC.
• Ability to troubleshoot and maintain GC systems; mechanical aptitude.
• Experience with crude oil characterization; Karl Fisher, IFT, MW, SARA.
• Proficient in MS Excel for data processing.

Responsibilities

• Receive, examine, and log inbound items for testing.
• Deliver test samples to the staging area.
• Monitor supplies and notify management of needs.
• Prepare samples and QC specimens; standardize reagents and calibrate equipment.
• Perform testing of samples and QC specimens using specified methods.
• Verify results and record entries in logs and worksheets for traceability.
• Maintain neat, organized documentation and work areas.
• Assist in training less experienced staff.
