Job summary

Intertek Nederland TX is seeking a GC Technical Lab Supervisor to lead the GC laboratory operations and oversee instrument maintenance, method development, and staff training in a fast-paced petroleum testing environment.

The role requires strong leadership, communication, and a safety-focused mindset to ensure quality, compliance, and timely results for clients in the energy sector. This position is on-site in Nederland, TX.

Qualifications

• GC laboratory supervision responsibilities include maintenance, installation and commissioning of GC equipment.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Experience with petroleum/petrochemical testing.
• Ability to train staff and enforce safety, quality, and ethics.
• Knowledge of analytical method development.

• Communicate, monitor, and enforce laboratory safety and housekeeping practices
• Lead the GC department
• Maintenance equipment, troubleshoot, training & method development
• Assist in, or conduct, investigations of discrepancies to resolve problems with clients, and to inform Management of required corrective action
• Provide objective input into Technicians' performance reviews.
• Assist in the training efforts of the Company
• Maintain an awareness of the abilities and personality of each technician
• Carry out the above responsibilities, and others which may be assigned, in a safe and ethical manner

What are we looking for?

The GC Technical Lab Supervisor is responsible for managing all aspects of the GC laboratory, including instrument maintenance, installation and commissioning of new equipment, analytical method development, technical troubleshooting, and the training and development of laboratory staff to maintain compliance, quality, and operational efficiency.

Shift/Schedule: Day shift, including nights, weekends & holidays as needed

What you’ll do:

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

• High school diploma / GED
• The GC Technical Laboratory Supervisor is expected to be competent in Gas Chromatography; maintenance, troubleshooting, method development, training
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Strong leadership skills
• Understanding of the significance of the data generated by test methods
• Petroleum/Petrochemical testing experience
• Ability to manage personnel to achieve the quality system, training, safety and financial goals of the office
• Ability to lead and motivate employees to actively support the objectives of the laboratory
• Ability to remain objective in adverse situations with a high level of personal and business ethics

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

• Three (3) years' experience in hydrocarbon testing
• Experience in LPG Testing is preferred
