Job summary

Serif Biomedicines is seeking a highly motivated Associate Scientist for Analytical Development and Quality Control in Cambridge, MA. You will contribute to building efficient testing systems and data delivery, while optimizing methods for nucleic acid therapeutics and LNP formulations.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Chemistry, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology or related field.
  • 8+ years of industry experience with a BS, or 6+ years with an MS.
  • Technical expertise in HPLC separations, LC-MS, plate-based assays (ELISA, qPCR/dPCR, residual protein).
  • Prior hands-on experience with mRNA/DNA cargo and LNP products is highly desired.
  • Ability to design, independently execute, and troubleshoot experiments.
  • Strong communication and organization skills; good working knowledge of Benchling, MS Office, JMP, GraphPad, Empower, Chromeleon.
  • Attention to detail, meticulous record keeping and personal organization.
  • Ability to analyze, compile, and present experimental data in oral presentations and technical reports.

Responsibilities

  • Build and optimize a robust system for testing samples and delivering data.
  • Track historical data to ensure robust data quality.
  • Advance analytical methods to improve specificity, sensitivity, precision, accuracy, and linearity.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and clearly communicate findings verbally and in writing.
  • Troubleshoot assay development and instrument issues.
  • Run assays on samples from platform development studies.
  • Manage nucleic acid cargo inventory and support development activities.
  • Document lab activities with detailed protocols and electronic notebooks (Benchling).
  • Develop and revise SOPs and train team members on new assays.
  • Present results and updates to internal teams.
  • Support general lab tasks to ensure efficient operations.
  • Work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
