Analytical Chemist – Inorganic Analysis8:00 am – 5:00 pm EST or 7:00 am – 4:00 pm EST.
Position Location: Allentown, PA/ Onsite no opportunity for hybrid or remotePRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES- Perform routine inorganic methods covering wet chemistry, sample preparation, microwave digestion, ICP-OES, titrations, and Ion Chromatography (IC)
- Develop, validate, and implement new sample preparation and microwave digestion methods
- Develop, validate, and implement new analysis methods using ICP-OES, titrations, and IC
- Set up and maintain analytical instruments, ensuring accuracy and performance
- Collect, interpret, and analyze data so that conclusions can be drawn from the results
- Be able to recognize good data from bad data
- Consult with internal RD&I cross-functional teams on analytical problem-solving and experimental design
- Perform additional analytical testing (SEM-EDS, particle analysis, thermal analysis, FTIR, chromatography and mass spectrometry) as required to support the rest of the Allentown Analytics team
- Participate in other shared responsibilities within the team (chemical inventory, asset management, equipment calibration, etc.)
- Maintain a culture of safety, compliance, and innovation, adhering to all regulatory and ESHQ standards
REQUIREMENTS- BS in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with 5 – 8 years of experience working in laboratory environment, or a MS in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of experience working in a laboratory environment
- Hands-on experience performing microwave digestion and elemental analysis by ICP-OES and/or ICP-MS
- Demonstrated experience running routine methods for ICP-OES and/or ICP-MS
- Demonstrated experience modifying and developing methods for ICP-OES and/or ICP-MS
- The ideal candidate would also have experience performing ICP-MS, ion chromatography, or SEM-EDS
- Problem-solving oriented with focus on developing solutions for clients rather than simply generating data
- Willingness to learn additional analytical techniques to help the team grow its impact within the broader organization
