Job Description

Fastener Dimensions, Inc. is a precision manufacturer of Aircraft, Aerospace, Military, and Racing fasteners. We specialize in high-strength and close-tolerance bolts, screws, and studs. Our fasteners are typically used in safety-critical or mission-critical applications for our customers. We take pride in providing quality parts and machined components that meet and exceed customer expectations.

We rely on our engineers to use their experience, knowledge, and state-of-the-art equipment to certify these products for airworthiness. This Technician position does not require a degree but does prefer some college education and knowledge of laboratory procedures. Good mechanical skills, the ability to read and interpret specifications and technical data, and good communication skills are required.

Types of testing in our Mechanical laboratory include: Mechanical setup and assembly of equipment, inspection, and recommendations on modifications, along with report writing for all testing and analysis.

Types of testing in our Metallurgical laboratory include:

  1. Microstructure & Macrostructure analysis (including macro/micro examination)
  2. Specimen preparation: cutting, mounting, polishing, and acid etching
  3. Inspection for burst and voids in the material
  4. Grain size measurement
  5. Detection of alloy segregation or surface irregularities affecting mechanical or physical properties
  6. Detection of overheating and grinding burns
  7. Measurement of indications
  8. Assessment of grain flow in threads after rolling and in the head after forging
  9. Detection of cracks, laps, carburization, decarburization, and untampered martensite
  10. Microhardness and Rockwell hardness testing

In our Mechanical laboratory, testing includes:

  1. Ultimate Tensile Testing (capacity: 300,000 lbs)
  2. Wedge Tensile Testing (capacity: 300,000 lbs)
  3. Elevated Temp Tensile (capacity: 300,000 lbs) - pending clamp furnace
  4. Single and Double Shear Testing (capacity: 300,000 lbs)
  5. Stress Rupture, Creep Rupture, Tension Fatigue Testing (capacity: 110 KIP), Stress Durability, Torque Testing (pending)
  6. Chemical Analysis using EDXRF material data analyzer
