Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Chemist/Scientist II for our Columbus, OH analytical laboratory. The role focuses on hands-on chemical testing of APIs and finished products in a regulated pharmaceutical environment, with emphasis on HPLC/GC techniques and data integrity.

You will contribute to method improvements, troubleshoot complex analytical challenges, and prepare technical reports while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure product quality and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related scientific discipline.
• 2-3+ years of industry experience in an analytical chemistry laboratory environment.
• Hands-on experience performing chemistry testing using HPLC and/or GC.

Responsibilities

• Perform qualitative and quantitative chemical and physical testing of APIs, raw materials, packaging components, and finished pharmaceutical products.
• Conduct analytical testing using HPLC, GC, wet chemistry, and other laboratory methodologies.
• Peer review analytical data and documentation for accuracy, compliance, and discrepancies.
• Support revalidation and continual improvement of analytical methods.
• Author technical reports and documentation related to analytical method enhancements and investigations.
• Execute investigative and advanced analytical activities to support product testing and issues.
• Identify instrument functions and variables, assist with troubleshooting and optimization.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and supporting documentation per quality and regulatory requirements.
• Complete required laboratory training and expand technical expertise.
• Manage multiple priorities and collaborate within a cross-functional team.
• Communicate scientific findings clearly in reports and discussions.
