Job summary

Curio Wellness in Maryland Heights, MO is seeking an Analytical Chemist I to perform routine chemical extractions and testing of consumable products under the guidance of the Lead Chemist. The role emphasizes instrument operation, method development, data processing, and strict adherence to regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with HPLC, GC-FID, UV-Vis spectrophotometry, and strong MS Excel skills, plus familiarity with GLP/GMP practices and ISO 17025

Qualifications

  • Experience with analytical instrumentation operation (HPLC/GC-FID/UV-Vis)
  • Familiarity with wet chemistry testing (pH, moisture, water activity)
  • Understanding of chromatography principles and calibration curves
  • Exposure to GLP/GMP and ISO 17025 environments; MS Excel proficiency
  • Experience with laboratory data systems or LIMS is a plus
  • Comfort with laboratory calculations and %RSD

Responsibilities

  • Operate and perform PM on HPLC, GC-FID, and UV-Vis instrumentation.
  • Develop and validate analytical methods.
  • Manage sample inventory, run analyses, process data, and report results.
  • Ensure compliance with cGLP and ISO 17025 laboratory requirements.
  • Under supervision, train staff on laboratory tasks.
  • Maintain laboratory records and supervise LEAN reporting tasks.
  • Handle hazardous materials safely.

The Analytical Chemist I will perform routine chemical extractions and testing of consumable products using industry-accepted practices and instrumentation. This position reports to the Lead Chemist.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operation and PM of HPLC, GC-FID, and UV-VIS Spectrophotometer instrumentation.
  • Method development and validation.
  • Management of sample inventory, sample analysis, data processing, and reporting.
  • Compliance to cGLP and ISO 17025 testing laboratory requirements.
  • Under guidance of senior staff, provide training to other staff on laboratory tasks.
  • General laboratory upkeep includes supply management and record organization.
  • LEAN management tasks, including daily reporting of laboratory activities.
  • Hazardous material handling
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in analytical instrumentation operation, such as HPLC, GC-FID, or UV-Vis spectrophotometry (can be academic only).
  • Familiarity with wet chemistry testing methods such as pH, moisture content, and water activity analysis.
  • Basic understanding of chromatography principles (retention time, peak integration, calibration curves).
  • Familiarity with GLP/GMP practices and regulated laboratory environments; exposure to ISO 17025 requirements is a plus.
  • Strong in MS Excel.
  • Experience with laboratory data systems or LIMS is a plus.
  • Comfort with laboratory calculations, including dilution factors, unit conversions, and %RSD.
  • Basic understanding of method validation concepts (accuracy, precision, linearity, LOD/LOQ) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with OSHA laboratory safety practices and SDS/chemical hygiene procedures.
Supervisory Responsibilities

No direct supervisory responsibility for others.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree (BA, BS) or four (4) years of equivalent job-related experience. BSAS, preferably in life sciences.

Physical Demands

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.

Comfortable working in a secure, regulated environment.
