Job summary

The Doe Run Company is seeking an Analytical Chemist for our Quentin J Schmidt Lab in Viburnum, MO. The role supports the analytical laboratory with reliable results to control processes, working Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m., with possible weekend rotation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related field required.
  • 1 year of experience in a lab setting.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Work with technicians to provide analytical results of various samples using defined volumetric, gravimetric, and/or instrumental methods.
  • Perform advanced sample analysis and assist with troubleshooting analytical or procedural issues; provide calibration guidance for instrument performance and process optimization.
  • Conduct method development or test work to improve accuracy, efficiency, and safety of laboratory procedures.
  • Complete tasks in a safe and environmentally compliant manner by following EHS policies and procedures; support continuous improvement in EHS performance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Doe Run Company is seeking an Analytical Chemist (Senior-level candidates will also be considered) for our Quentin J Schmidt Lab in Viburnum, MO, to provide for the needs of the analytical chemical laboratory related to the use of sound laboratory practices and methodologies to generate reliable analytical results that are used to control processes.

This position is scheduled to work M-F, 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and may include a weekend rotation.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistryor related field.
  • 1 year of experience in a lab setting.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.), Databases, and ERP (PeopleSoft).
  • Basicknowledge of analytical lab analysis best practices and processes.
  • Basic understanding of how to operateanalyticallab equipment, includingPMs, calibrations and standards.
  • Proficient understanding of method development and documenting standard operating procedures.
  • Proficient knowledge of quality control standardsto ensure accurate and precise testing results.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work with technicians to provide analytical results of various samples brought to the laboratory using defined volumetric, gravimetric, and/or instrumental methods.
  • Perform advanced sample analysis and assist with troubleshooting analytical or procedural issues as needed. Provide technical guidance for calibration, instrument performance, and process optimization to ensure consistent, reliable results.
  • Conduct method development or test work to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and safety of laboratory procedures.
  • Complete tasks in a safe and environmentally compliant manner by following EHS (environmental, health and safety) policies, procedures and best practices; support and assist peers in working in a safe, compliantmanner; report unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations; and provide feedback to support continuous improvement in EHS performance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Environmental Conditions, Physical & Lifting Requirements:

  • Frequentlyrequiredto use a computer, telephone, and laboratory analysis equipment. Rarely required to use hand tools (powered and non-powered).
  • Occasionally exposedtowet, humid conditions (non-weather), outdoor weather conditions, and required to wear personal protective equipment, including but not limited to a respirator, hearing protection, foot protection,and eyewear. Rarely exposed to vibration, extreme cold (non-weather), work near moving mechanical parts, and work at heights greater than 4 feet. Moderate noise exposure.
  • Regularly required to hear, feel attributes of objects, grasp, and reach. Frequently required to talk, sit, stand, walk, and perform repetitive wrist, hand, and/or finger movements. Occasionally required to push,stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Rarely required to drive or climb. Requires clarity of vision at 20 inches or less, three-dimensional vision, precise hand-eye coordination, andtheability to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Frequently required tolift upto 5 pounds. Occasionally required tolift upto 25 pounds. Rarely required tolift upto 100 pounds.
