OFG Bancorp in the United States and Puerto Rico is seeking an Analyst for the US Banking Commercial Loan Program. The role focuses on underwriting new commercial loan originations, portfolio management, and risk assessments across various industries. Hybrid work is available and reports to San Juan, PR.

You will build financial models, perform spreads, and collaborate with portfolio leads, in a fast-paced environment that emphasizes accurate analysis and timely decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting, Economics, or a business-related field.
  • MBA preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience in commercial credit analysis/portfolio management.
  • Knowledge of capital markets and syndicated/leveraged lending desired.
  • Strong quantitative analysis, financial modeling, and credit analysis skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication; Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide analytical support in the preparation of new credit underwritings, loan modifications, and periodic credit reviews.
  • Perform all required financial spreads and build models for valuation and forecast.
  • Assess and evaluate credit risk of borrowers and flag early warning signals.
  • Upload documentation for underwriting and approval; work with Portfolio Leads and Portfolio Manager on portfolio reports and industry research.
  • Collaborate with the USLP Management Team and Credit Risk Unit to optimize workflow and drive internal enhancements.
  • Complete annual training programs.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

JOB OVERVIEW

OFG’s US Banking Commercial Loan Program is currently recruiting an Analyst to join their team in the San Juan, PR and Charlotte, NC offices. As a member of the team, the Analyst will play a critical role in growing the US business by assisting in the underwriting of new commercial loan originations across various industries and portfolio management efforts of existing credit relationships. Position works hybrid and reports to San Juan, PR.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide analytical support in the preparation of new credit underwritings, loan modifications, and periodic credit reviews.
  • Performing all required financial spreads.
  • Building financial models used for valuation and forecast.
  • Assessing and evaluating the credit risk of a prospective or existing borrower flagging early warning signals.
  • Uploading all necessary documentation for credit underwriting and approval.
  • Work alongside the Portfolio Leads and Portfolio Manager in the preparation of regular portfolio reports, industry research, and other strategic initiatives.
  • Stay abreast of news and events that affect the different industries/sectors covered within the US Loans portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with business partners, internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the USLP Management Team including its Credit Risk Unit to manage optimal workflow, assist in identifying process breakdowns, and develop internal enhancements.
  • Be responsible for completing annual training programs.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting, Economics, or business related degree required.
  • MBA preferred.
  • One (1)+ years of experience in commercial credit analysis/portfolio management required.
  • Minimum experience requirement can be substituted with the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Knowledge of capital markets and commercial/corporate product offerings, including syndicated/leveraged lending desired.
  • Strong skills in quantitative analysis, financial modeling, and credit analysis required.
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills in English, being able to communicate at all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in Spanish would be a plus.
  • Ability to work on demanding tasks independently, effectively manage deadlines, and have excellent prioritizing skills.
  • Expertise in computer skills, including but not limited to the Microsoft Office suite required.
  • Moody’s Credit Lens, and other financial software tools such as Pitchbook and S&P Capital IQ strongly preferred.
