Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree or higher and experience with business analysis, databases, software, technology solutions, computer information science, data science, or applied mathematics.
  • Minimum of five years of direct experience supporting the Virginia Department of Education state reporting, including student record collections, data validation, auditing, and resolution of reporting errors.

Responsibilities

  • Review and validate data used for VDOE state collections and submissions, ensuring adherence to reporting requirements, timelines, and business rules.

Job Description

Job Overview The Part-Time State Reporting Analyst supports the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of student data used for Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) state reporting. This position conducts audits of student information system data, identifies discrepancies and reporting risks, and works directly with school and central office staff to correct data issues prior to state submissions. The analyst provides training, guidance, and ongoing support to ensure data quality while serving as a subject matter expert on VDOE reporting requirements, business rules, and reporting nuances.

Education

Associate's Degree or higher and experience with business analysis, databases, software, technology solutions, computer information science, data science, or applied mathematics

Experience

Minimum of five years of direct experience supporting the Virginia Department of Education state reporting, including student record collections, data validation, auditing, and resolution of reporting errors.

Licenses and Certifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of Virginia Department of Education state reporting requirements, collections, business rules, and data validation processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex student data, identify root causes of data quality issues, and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Strong understanding of student information systems, data governance principles, and the relationship between operational data and state reporting outcomes.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical reporting requirements to diverse audiences and provide effective training.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques, including SQL, spreadsheets, reporting applications, and audit methodologies, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
