Job summary

American Airlines is seeking an Analyst/Sr Analyst for Sales AI & Innovation to develop AI-powered tools, governance, and analytics for Global Sales. You will design AI agents, manage data pipelines, and collaborate across IT and business stakeholders to enable data-driven revenue initiatives.

The role emphasizes Databricks, Azure Fabric, and Power BI capabilities, with a focus on scalable AI solutions in a large airline environment. Fort Worth-based, onsite at the DFW HQ.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience/training.
• 3+ years in a similar role with hands-on Databricks/Azure environment.
• Experience building or operationalizing AI agents or LLM-based apps.
• Experience with Databricks Delta Lake/Unity Catalog and with Power BI.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy AI agents and models on Databricks and Copilot/Fabric.
• Develop AI governance frameworks for model documentation and monitoring.

What you'll do

Responsibilities include the following:

• Design, build, and deploy AI agents and models on Databricks and Microsoft Copilot/Fabric, leveraging tools such as Genie Spaces, Agent Bricks, and LLM-based workflows to automate and enhance intelligence for Global Sales.
• Develop and maintain AI governance frameworks — including model documentation, performance monitoring, lineage tracking, and compliance standards — to ensure responsible and auditable use of AI across sales programs.
• Build and optimize data pipelines supporting AI/ML workloads within a medallion architecture on Azure Databricks (Delta Lake, Unity Catalog), with integration into Microsoft Fabric and OneLake for downstream consumption.
• Innovate on emerging Databricks and Microsoft Fabric capabilities as they are released, rapidly evaluating and prototyping features that can strengthen the team’s technical foundation and revenue impact.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders in Global Sales to understand operational challenges and translate them into AI-driven solutions, communicating findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Create AI-powered reporting and analytical models within Genie Spaces, Databricks Apps, and Power BI Direct Lake semantic models that empower sales leaders to understand program performance, identify opportunities, and act with confidence.
• Champion continuous improvement by staying current with advancements in generative AI, agentic frameworks, and large language model tooling, bringing a mindset of experimentation and responsible innovation to the team.
• Support the full AI development lifecycle — from ideation and prototyping through production deployment and ongoing monitoring — in close partnership with data engineering and Sales IT teams.

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or similar degree; or equivalent experience/training
• 3 years in similar role

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

• MIS, MBA/MS with a focus on data science, AI, or business technology
• 5 years of development experience, preferably in an airline or travel industry function
• 3+ years of experience with Databricks, including Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, or MLflow
• Experience building or operationalizing AI agents or LLM-based applications
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Copilot Studio, and Power BI

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

• Databricks: Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Databricks Workflows, Genie Spaces, Apps
• Cloud & Data Platforms: Azure, Microsoft Fabric, OneLake
• AI/ML: Python (PySpark, pandas), agentic frameworks, MLflow, model governance and monitoring practices

• Certifications (a plus): Databricks Certified Associate or Professional; Microsoft Azure or Fabric certification
