Job summary

Gordon Brothers seeks an Analyst to build valuation models, conduct research, and present report findings to clients. The role is based in Boston, MA or Mequon, WI, with travel to client sites as required and collaboration within a team environment.

Responsibilities include analytical support for inventory valuations, data collection, and producing final appraisal reports, while adhering to USPAP standards and internal procedures. Bachelor’s degree and 1–2 years’ related experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, economics or related area of study required.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a business, financial, audit, lending, or consulting environment preferred; internships may count.

Responsibilities

  • Provide analytical support for inventory valuation reports, including due diligence, analysis, and data collection.
  • Work with established methodologies and standard models/templates with guidance.
  • Assist with researching consumer products, industrial, retail or other market sectors as assigned.
  • Manage multiple projects with a team in a collaborative environment.
  • Communicate with bank clients and appraised companies to understand information and challenges.
  • Analyze KPI such as inventory productivity, gross margin, and operating expenses to inform value.
  • Develop qualitative understanding of nuances affecting asset values and review findings with management.
  • Produce final appraisal report detailing quantitative and qualitative findings.
  • Maintain Appraisal Application database for accurate contact, company, and recovery info.
  • Participate in travel, inspections, and client meetings; take asset photos and provide notes.
  • Provide additional analyses as requested by management.
  • Adhere to USPAP standards as applied to inventory valuations.

Description

The Analyst applies business knowledge and experience to build valuation models, conduct and apply research, and communicate the results of inventory appraisals in narrative documents to the assigned client.

This role will be based in our Boston, MA or Mequon, WI office.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide analytical support for inventory valuation reports, which includes due diligence, analysis, and data collection to ensure the accuracy of supplied information.
  • Work in accordance with established methodology and utilize standard models and templates with direction.
  • Assist with researching the consumer products, industrial, retail or other market sectors, as assigned.
  • Handle multiple projects with the support of a team, in a friendly learning environment.
  • Communicate directly, as instructed, with bank clients and appraised companies to understand company-provided information and operational challenges.
  • Perform company and industry analysis on key performance indicators such as inventory productivity, gross margin, and operating expenses to help determine value.
  • Develop a qualitative understanding of nuances that may affect asset values, and review findings with company management and clients.
  • Produce final appraisal report of quantitative and qualitative findings.
  • Maintain Gordon Brothers’ Appraisal Application database to ensure accurate and timely contact, company, and recovery information.
  • Participate in travel, job inspections, and/or client meetings with a senior-level Appraiser. This will include taking photographs of assets and providing notes or dictation.
  • Provide additional analysis support as requested by management.
  • Become proficient in and adhere to USPAP standards, particularly as they apply to inventory valuations.

Education, Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, economics or related area of study required.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a business, financial, audit, lending, or consulting environment preferred; the experience can include relevant internships.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Word and Excel, including pivot tables and advanced functions and formulas.
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial statements, including income statements and balance sheets; understanding of inventory and other asset accounting methodologies is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A high degree of integrity and business acumen.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability and willingness to manage multiple projects with a close attention to detail.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Periodic travel may be required.
